I am reading more and more articles lately with Gordon's name with the NBA following it. Even David Woods is starting to believe he could be gone after this year. Maybe I remain skeptical because Butler and NBA has never been mentioned in the same breath until now or the kid seems sensible enough to know he has more work to do. Right now we're sitting at #36 with two Quality Wins (#40 Northwestern, #46 Ohio State) and three Quality Losses (#55 Minnesota, #45 Clemson, #13 Georgetown). Discussions under a previous thread around the Northwestern, Ohio State, Xavier, Evansville, Ball State and UAB contracts got me to thinking. Do Big Ten teams regularly play DI in-state rivals? Looks like Iowa is the only stand-up school. Here are the 2009-2010 games;

In Detroit's loss at Michigan Sunday, they were out-rebounded 36-43.
Valpo was out-rebounded 34-36 at Purdue.
GB was outrebounded 52-35 against Wisconsin.

We out-rebounded Ohio State 45-32, including 12-5 on the offensive end.
It's encouraging that the large rebounding deficits Butler used to have to deal with when playing the BCS schools aren't much of an issue anymore

The three teams below us in the AP Top 25 all went undefeated this week (Texas Tech, Georgia Tech and Mississippi), plus a slew of unranked teams are making statements - including Steve Alford's undefeated New Mexico squad. I am guessing we'll be in the top 3-4 "Others Receiving Votes".

Xavier winning 31 -26 at home over their 19th ranked city rival.

Its a bloodbath out there - a couple of near fights, and 2 technical fouls and an"excessive" foul.

If Xavier wins this, it would give our game a little more glimmer nationally, although we already know this will be a tough one.

Davidson's 2007-2008 season:

-4 point loss to #1 North Carolina in Charlotte
-7 point loss at Western Michigan
-6 point loss to #7 Duke in Charlotte
-7 point loss at Charlotte
-12 point loss at #7 UCLA
-1 point loss at NC State

Then Davidson won 25 straight games on their way to the elite eight.

The point is losing three close games to top 20 teams isn't the worst thing in the world early in the season.

Any thoughts on the stray talk about expanding the tourney and opting out after this year on CBS?

Also, yesterday Hinkle absolutely sparkled! Jay Bilas could not have been nicer. Bill Polian was there with his grandson and Thad Matta almost got an his eye poked out by an offical.

Winning is like a drug and we desparately needed a fix yesterday! Thanks to the Dogs!!!!!

Good game yesterday. Looked like Hinkle was the place to be. Great showing by the team, fans, students all around.
