Butler Men's Soccer gets in tourney, #12 overall seed

Despite losing to Green Bay in the Horizon League finals in PKs, the men's soccer team got into the 48-team NCAA tournament and are the #12 overall seed. They get a first-round bye and will play the Louisville-Indiana winner in the second round (most likely hosting that game).

Congrats to the team...

Over/Under on Mr. Duck wanting this moved to the other sports section...87 minutes (7:30 p.m. Eastern).

Baseball Question

Can anyone familiar with the baseball program give a little analysis on why the team is struggling so badly? We won our opening game, and then we've been outscored 202-52 since then. Is there hope on the horizon for improvement? Is the problem talent, coaching, administration commitment to the program, or all of the above? Thanks.

I was visiting Pat Neshek's webpage the other day. Apparently he had a setback in rehab and underwent Tommy John surgery in November. As a result, he will not pitch in 2009.

Womens golf

I know less visited side of this board, but wondering how talented our women's golf team is. I have a neighbor who is going to graduate in top 10%, maybe even 5% of her class that has been a #1 on the high school golf team for 2-3 years. Shoots high 70's to very low 80's. Had some issues at the state tourney this year when the high school AD did not get the right papers in to get the practice time for the championship game. I think she still shot a 80 for that round.

Interesting Article in the Wall Street Journal about Lacrosse "going mainstream."

For those who didn't know this - the 2008 NCAA Division I Lacrosse Championship Game had 48,970 people in attendance. 145,828 people attended the three day tournament. Read the whole thing...

I have an interest in how our Butler University baseball team is doing. I see the results of other teams; however, I rarely see the baseball team's game outcomes. Why is that? Can anybody press the right button and start getting those scores reported in the morning newspaper?

Cross Country Runners Advance: Butler will have representatives at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on November 19th, as Andy Baker and Genni Gardner each earned bids to compete against the best in the country. The mens race will begin at noon Eastern time followed by the womens race at 12:55 p.m. Both championship races will be broadcast live on CSTV.

Vision Racing driver Ed Carpenter (Butler 2003) and wife Heather are the proud parents of their first born, Makenna Alayne Carpenter, who arrived at 12:25 a.m. on Oct. 9th. Vision Racings newest number one fan weighed in 7 lbs. 1 oz. and was 20.5 inches long.

Both mother and daughter are doing well and are anticipating heading home to join the rest of the family; dogs Rosco (Chihuahua) and Bentley (Rottweiler).

Carpenter completed his fourth full IndyCar Series season in...
