Clearly the team SHOULD have been ahead, regardless, that shot could have made a difference. Dismissing the fact that we missed an opportunity due to a very valid failure on the part of the officiating crew is ridiculous.

Say we should have been ahead by more doesn't erase the oversight by the officials. When all is said and done...it may have cost us this game. 39m 54.1s of bad play does not excuse poor performance by the professionals, nor does it mean our team deserves to be...

This is ridiculous. There are so many things wrong with this.

1) It actually appears the clock started, then stopped then started again.
2) It is the OBLIGATION of the clock operator to tell them he started the clock. They may be fans of Milwaukee, but they are officials and need to have integrity.
3) The refs should have known and been watching.
4) What kind of operation is it where there is no view that showed the clock? The clock was on the HLN feed.

Dogs that Scrap - Agree. Game should have never come down to one play at the end of the game. Take care of business for 40 minutes not 5 seconds!

Per new NCAA guidelines this season, the home team is supposed to keep a digital timer at the table in case of a clock malfunction or to handle a timing error. Wasn't there so not sure if they had one available. To clarify one comment made elsewhere, the clock is not supposed to start until the ball is "touched inbounds". I didn't see the game so my comments are based on reading posts here on the Message Board. If Gordo passed the ball laterally along the baseline to Willie...

I am very curious about what the solution would have been, as well. My guess is they replay the last 5.9 seconds. Anyone have any ideas on this?

My guess is that the refs would have used a stop watch to figure out how much time elapsed early. Butler's ball out of bounds, with that time on the clock, where Hahn was when the clock expired.

It's almost like this is the beginning of the season. Brad needs to take these guys to boot camp. The last half-dozen games or so they have played (with the exception of Matt) like they were new to college basketball. The season is running in reverse. We need to do a 180 on that time warp and start playing like it's November again.

I understand the frustration...2 seconds really is a long time in a basketball game, but a 2 second differential isn't why we lost the game tonight. Milwaukee brought their A-game and their effort and we didn't match it...file a complaint with the league sure, but we have bigger concerns with this team than this.

If any of you didn't close out your window, watch the last play over. The clock started when we had the ball out of bounds.

It certainly isn't an excuse for the loss, but terrible that not one ref caught it.

Still, Hahn should have glanced up to know what the hell was going on.

Every game is a must-win now. I've posted this already tonight, but we've officially joined the bubble discussion.
