I heard that Brad will be on "The Fan 1070" tomorrow 6/11/08 as the co-host with Eddie!

If Brad talks the entire time, I'll listen. Otherwise, it will be hard to swallow.
I understand that 1070 took a gamble on an afternoon lineup, but Eddie is starting to get in his own way "hosting" that show. |

Man, barring Brad, this show is really terrible. Is it always this bad?
On paper, people think we're nothing. They say we don't
belong. We watched TV and we barely knew we were even playing today. Nobody gave us a shot... We're still here

Just imagine how good a show it could be if Brad was given 2 hours with a competent talk show host.
Highlight for all of you schedule people out there: Brad just talked about how we only have 13 home games prior to our conference tourney out of 30 games and they want home games. We've gone back and forth about our schedule being too road heavy. He didn't outwardly say it, but it was implied that we would turn down a road game against a state rival to play anybody at home. We have to have home games to balance our schedule. |

Thanks for the link to the radio show. The guy is really an ass, 1070 must not be spending money on talent.

I agree that the "regular" on the show was an ass, but it was huge of 1070, and probably Kravitz to bring Stevens on the show for the entire time...
It was a Butler love fest the whole time, minus some of the bonehead comments from the idiot.
Loved how he gave Butler no mention at all in his tribute to what coaches, athletes, and sports in general mean to people when facing hardships... he said several times how the love to come and talk about the Pacers, IU, Colts in times of hardship. You'd think he'd be at least crafty enough to throw a Butler mention in there when co-hosting with the head coach!! I heard Brad was talking about the recruits, and some potential recruits (is he allowed to do that?)... what did he say?

Coach didn't talk about anyone who hasn't signed a LOI. It is explicitly against the rules to talk about recruits, he can talk about
Shelvin/Garrett/Gordon/Chase/Ronald/Emerson all he wants, publicly.

WIBC 1070 has been the rock of AM radio in Indy for decades. Their decision to move their news/talk format to FM and go sports (mainly ESPN Radio) on AM was a
very good business decision. They clearly had the potential to blow out the other 2 sports talk format stations (especially having the 2 major teams radio
contracts). But, the major blunder was teaming up a much disliked sports editor (Kravitz) with ANYONE to host the highest profile local part of the day. The
fact that his partner in crime is indeed a clown almost all of the time is SO disappointing. 1070 has dropped the ball on this one. I wonder how long it will
take them to admit it?

What don't you like about Kravitz? It is his job to express his views, and he has the courage to express views that are not always positive about the home team. I think he is excellent, although I don't always agree with him. From what I have heard, he is highly respected nationally. |

Staxawax doesn't like any Sports Writer under the age of 65. He just can't connect to the language, tone, modern day references, etc...

Star.........there is no respect there either.

I don't mind Kravitz. It's his job to be a contrarian and get people talking about his columns. He does actually write some homerish articles from time
to time. Honestly I think I like Kravitz' writing better than Benner's. Benner was a good writer (and a very nice dude), but he was WAY too soft on the
home teams. Let's face it, writing an article that's warm & fuzzy & everyone can agree with won't sell papers (or drive online traffic to
Indystar.com) in the age of the internet.

I think Kravitz is good on that show | ||
|
He has good connections and is knowledgeable about the sports. The bad decision 1070 made was not putting a broadcaster with him. Instead, they hired somebody with sports connections to stir the pot with Kravitz. Unfortunately, it's created a bad product. BobBu mentioned that they aren't spending much money on talent. Actually, it's the exact opposite. Both White and Kravitz are probably making more than any other sports radio talent in this market by a large margin. However, there are plenty of broadcasters with the talent to do a show with Kravitz that would have been cheaper to afford and put on a good show. Listening yesterday only emphasized that point. Brad was phenomenal. He actually prepared to do the broadcast, and Eddie simply didn't take advantage of
that. He didn't feed him with questions, pursue the correct talking points or even bother to know much about Brad and Butler University. My personal
favorite was his ignorant question of, "Is Butler's women's team any good?" I don't expect him to know about Coach Couture and her team,
but asking it in that way was embarassing.

I'm surprised the IndyStar hasn't done all they can to get Jason Whitlock out of KC and back home to Indiana. Maybe they have and he doesn't want
to come back, I don't know, but he'd be a great replacement for Kravitz. Kravitz doesn't bother me much 'cause I take him for what he is, an
opinionated writer that presents his views in tantrum form. Whatever. Whitlock is one of my favorite writers as he touches on so many topics and presents
opinions in a well structured manner. Anyhow...don't get too out of shape over Kravitz. It could be worse. At least you're not stuck reading Peter
Vecsey or Mike Lupica.
