Surprised no one, especially Title, has caught or mentioned this. Doesn't look good for us, but BMiller deserves it:

peeps, i saw it, but its nothing but speculation right now, so i didnt go ahead and post it. these kind of things happen. thanks for posting, though. i'd
imagine that if brandon leaves, you will see either joel or lavall coming back in this direction.
Anyone else starting to think that Shelvin Mack, the Bryan Station boys' basketball star, could
become Billy Gillispie's Chris Lofton?

I know the money is probably better, but Brandon and Holly have a lot of family here. Wishful thinking on my part, but maybe he stays?

If the money and career advancement opportunity was presented to you, would you stay?

Speaking on the money situation, any assistant job at OSU is going to pay signifcantly more than being the 2nd assistant at Butler. It's been a few years
since I saw the official salaries of Butler coaches publicized, but I am willing to bet that a job at OSU would more than double what he is currently making.
That's a big jump.
We'll wait and see when an official word on his future is made public. It's a personal decision for him to make, so many of us with "connections" should stay tight-lipped on this one. |

Duck, funny you should ask that. Yes, I have and would stayed at jobs that paid less. I think you have to be happy with what you do and comfortable in your
surroundings. Now if Brandon finds that at OSU, more power. But I know the question is posed on this board all the time about money and title being the most
important thing. For me, it's happiness, and that can't always be found with more money. Just my 2 cents worth.

I selfishly hope he stays, but I don't think anyone will question him if he decides to leave. Being an assistant at OSU is a stepping stone to being a D-1
head coach somewhere. Odds are he'll be back.

I wondered if this might happen when John Groce got the job at Ohio. I hope that Brandon Miller stays at Butler but can hardly see how he could turn down OSU,
if offered.

He has left. Started there this weekend.

And there is no way Joel or Val come back to Butler. They would have to take a paycut to do that. And if they wanted to be back here why would they have left
last year for Iowa--oh yeah the big bucks, and I don't blame them.

I cannot blame Brandon if he pursues this assistant coaching position. He has already worked with Thad at two different institutions. He will be a tremendous
head coach someday.

$60,000 < $120,000...it is what it is - who wouldn't do the same?

Does anyone have a feel for how much Brandon contributed to this last year's team? Obviously Coach Stevens and Graves were the main guys. What was
Brandon's role? Was he a major contributor to this year's recruiting class? He a an x's and o's guy or a personnel guy?

I think Brandon is a bit of everything. He teaches great fundamentals as it relates to defense and court vision. Plus, his determination and competitiveness
really rubs off on the players. As for recruiting, I know that he was big in Mack's recruitment, and any calls to New Castle are certainly easier with him
on staff. But, Brad is the guy when it comes to recruiting. He is gifted when it comes to sealing the deal and really knows how to recruit the types of players
we need. Our assistants do a great job of identifying and cultivating a recruit, but Brad's final pitch is normally a big deal.
As for a replacement, we can throw out a lot of names, but keep in mind what Butler's track record normally is. We generally promote the DOBO into a 3rd assistant position. That's what happened with Brad, Joel, Terry (indirectly) and a host of others. I fully expect Micah Shrewsberry to be the next assistant coach, especially with a major recruiting period just weeks away. We need somebody familiar with our plans to hit the circuit in July. |

I know its a few years away, but I'd like to see Mike come back in some coaching capacity. Currently our staff is a bit Indiana-centric, it would be nice
to have someone with some east coast ties to open up some new recruiting channels.

I would consider Brandon's departure to be a significant loss. I think everyone seen the calming effect he had on Mike Green's play. Which I thought
was much improved and more consistant overall from the year prior. I know he also worked hard on developing our young guards. I can't blame him for going,
but I hope he returns in the future.

I see Brandon's departure as a big loss... but not all that unexpected. This is the price of success. I have to think that his presence will be greatly missed with this young group of players coming in. His toughness and knowledge of the Butler system as a player and coach would have been key to getting the newcommers up and running, and doing it the right way. I hope he will be back... but not too soon.

By the way, I assume Brandon will be filling a lower assistant position, and not the head assistant post.... right??
