Wanted to apologize for remarks regarding the filtering of money for personal gain, kinda uncalled for and unfounded. Probably should not have phrased it the
way that it was phrased.

If you're charging students to be a part of the group and they benefit from its privileges (shirts/pre-game meals/seats in the DP,etc.) why not implement a
rule to Dawg Pound members that they are only allowed to miss two games (when school is in session). If you miss a third, your membership is revoked. I know
that seems a bit harsh, but the ones paying the fee and not showing up are essentially taking away an opportunity for someone else to be in the Pound. When I
was in school, I missed I believe one home game in four years. I loved showing up early, standing underneath the hoop, and helping rebound and warm-up
the players. Every home game was Christmas morning to me. I think we've lost that love and feeling.

True. I figured it was capped? I'd hate think you have to give them an incentive to go to games. Knowing I (and everyone I went with) could play a role in
helping the team win was incentive enough for me.

good to hear everyone's thoughts. i'm glad i'm not the only person who thinks we need more energy from our students. if all of us on the board
stand up and bring more energy than Hinkle as a whole will be louder.
we could always use that guy on every espn game that is in the front row waving his arms up to get everybody on their feet and to make some noise. we don't have that guy on the bench waving the towel doing it for us. heck, kramer did it after every play i think tonight, and hummel gets the crowd going as well. maybe if mack or hayward give the crowd the thumbs up to get in the game more fans will follow. |

As a freshman who's attended every game, I can personally say that a lot of the people who stand in the Dawg Pound do it just because it's the cool
thing to do, and not because they're particularly passionate about the team. For every fan like me who's always jumping and screaming, there are
probably 2 more who're giving us funny looks the whole time. It just seems that a lot of the people are too uptight to really let loose and get into it.

I'm not a Butler student (nor have I ever been), and I would gladly pay $20 to get a T-shirt and be able to go to games. If by next year the Dawg Pound
isn't rocking (especially given our non-conference schedule), then I have lost faith in the students.

My only point about Duke wttn3 was that camping outside for tickets isn't that big of a deal for their students...having to look up a name in a database
and/or get a card scanned can't be that big of an inconvenience.

Maybe for every home game you attend you get your name that many times in a year-end raffle/giveaway. Maybe hand out x number of basketballs signed by the
entire team or something...or if we make the NCAA Tournament that given year, the DP will foot the bill for your NCAA Tournament ticket(s)...or maybe my ideas
are lame. Probably so.

BU... not lame at all... in fact, we currently have a system in place that parallels your idea. Here is a link to the DP site that details the program and
outlines some incentives for high attendance. http://www.butler.edu/stu...dawgpound/poundpoints.asp

jskierko--Have you considered giving the members who actually sit in the DP end zones double or triple points at the remaining home games? I noticed on your
pound points link that you offer this option at your discretion. Maybe that will have kids vying for those seats and make it more of an incentive. Require
that they at least wear face paint.
Also, in this day and age, kids aren't so keen on delayed gratification. Next year could you offer some of your end of year prizes mid-season? That way no one feels like they're hopelessly behind if they can have a fresh chance to rack up points for the remainder of the season. Just a thought.

I hope the students soon realize what they are missing. This team is going to be ranked top ten in AT LEAST the next 2, probably 3 seasons. The attendance per
game is creeping up........... the students of Butler University should want to be a part of that.

BU720 wrote:I can't believe I'm the first one to comment about this. It's put up on a tee, for heaven's sake. Even though released in the mid-60's, it had a comeback from Top Gun and eneded up the most played record in the 20th century. Anyway with apologies to the Righteous Brothers and Phil Spector, I present BU720's plaintive plea to the current members of the Dawg Pound. It's called, "You've Lost That Love and Feeling." Hey 720, it would be ideal if you had a real low baritone voice and knew a fellow Dawg Pounder from back in the day who has a really high tenor voice? Remember now, I put this together in about 15 minutes. Anyway, here it is.... You never stand anymore when the players make a great play And there's no excitement in the Pound like before on game day You're trying hard not to show it, (Dawg Pound). But Dawg Pound, Dawg Pound I know it... You've lost that love and feeling, Whoa, that love and feeling, You've lost that love and feeling, Now it's gone...gone...gone...wooooooh. Now there's no welcome look in your eyes when you walk through that Hinkle door And now you're acting like it's almost a chore It makes me just feel like crying, (Dawg Pound). 'Cause Dawg Pound, something in you is dying. You lost that love and feeling, Whoa, that love and feeling, You've lost that love and feeling, Now it's gone...gone...gone...woooooah Dawg Pound, I get down on my knees for you. If you would only love the game like you used to do, yeah. We had a love...a love...a love you don't find everyday. So don't...don't...don't...don't let it slip away. Dawg Pound (Dawg Pound), Dawg Pound (Dawg Pound) I beg of you please...please, They need your love (They need your love), They need your love (They nedd your love), So bring it on back (So bring it on back), Bring it on back (so bring it on back). Bring back that love and feeling, Whoa, that love and feeling Bring back that love and feeling, 'Cause it's gone...gone...gone, and this can't go on, noooo... Bring back that love and feeling, Whoa, that love and feeling Bring back that love and feeling, 'Cause it's gone...gone... |

Haha--UFR, very nice. You do know that it's "lovin' feeling", right? When I first read this, I thought that I had it wrong my whole life.

Yeah, I know it's lovin' feeling. I changed it to keep it like BU720 had it.
I copied the whole song, changed every "lovin' feeling" to "love and feeling," changed a couple things to be more basketball like and then went to a website that list the words that rhyme with whatever word came at the end of a line. Pure genius on my part. |
