Great Article. Glad everyone else was able to see what we saw from Gordon all last season. He put on a nice show for the NBA scouts.

First off the picture is awesome. Secondly, maybe a few of you need to incorporate humor into your lives. It is no secret that the relationship between the two
countries is icy, basically full of hate, so, throwing a little humor in there, that's all. I'm sure the kids on both side will play hard and represent
their countries with pride. Sit back, have a laugh and relax. Can't wait to see how our guys do.

I know we are classified as a Mid-Major but how many true Mid-Majors outside of Xavier have started a season ranked in the Top 15 or so teams in the nation? I
consider us just a solid contending team. Congrats to both Gordon and Shelvin!

ndfan-interesting point. Here in Memphis, on the local radio shows they always speak of the "faces" of the non BCS conferences in terms of hoops.
They always say Memphis, Xavier, and Gonzaga. I always get pissed and yell out in my car "dammit Butler is as good as them!! ETC ETC.." but I really
think add up the last three years, this summer, and the preseason rankings, where I would think we would be higher than all three of those teams, we will be
cemented in that category. Not a surprise or mid major, but just a damn good program year in and year out. Pretty awesome.

Anyone else snicker when they saw JaJaun Johnson was left off the roster? Anytime we can one-up Purdue, Indiana or Notre Dame, it has to help our status within
the state, and in turn, recruiting.

I don't believe JaJaun Johnson was trying out for the U19 team. |

Is it just me, or does Gordon's arms look bigger in the SI article? It looks like he has been hitting the weights pretty hard. He also mentions in the
interview posted on another thread of his concern about missing some lifting due being on the USA team.
Also per the other article, I like that he is defending the low post players at the trials. This could bring a new dimension to his game. |

Here is David Woods article from the Indy Star....... it's been 46 years since a Butler player (Tom Bowman) was selected for a national team. Butler, Purdue players make U.S. basketball teams |

You know he must've done something spectacular when Seth Davis is giving him some love
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/seth_davis/06/19/colorado/1.html My colleague Luke Winn has already weighed in on perhaps the week's biggest revelation, Butler forward Gordon Hayward. I knew Hayward was a great shooter, but I didn't realize just how versatile he was offensively. He can score in so many ways, and he's terrific at putting the ball on the deck and finding the open man. (He had seven assists to two turnovers.) "They say not to mix business with pleasure. If that's true, then tell me how a putt-putt golf course business works." |

This should help you rest easy - Mack was a late addition, that was simply the original tryout roster that you had looked at "They say not to mix business with pleasure. If that's true, then tell me how a putt-putt golf course business works." |
