I'm elated that Mack had an excellent first outing in the U-19 game.

All bantering aside, we have pleasant problems entering the upcoming season when it comes to playing time and rotations. Our depth and different player talents
will allow for many defensive and offensive volleys while the season and individual games progress. With these attributes being a given, we need to have our
players' minds game ready regardless of the opponent. The game is just as mental as physical.

Look, odds are the exact same lineup against LSU will be the lineup rolled out for the first game. But I see your point and agree with you. I guess the problem
is if you go big, someone will lose the starting spot, it won't be Howard, won't be Shel or Gordon for sure, so it comes down to Veas or Nored. If it
were me I leave Veas in the lineup and use Nored's energy off the bench. He can still be very effective in that role and still get a lot of minutes. I
think either one would be fine as a 6th man. Question would be if Veas, as a Senior, would accept the role. I am good with either one being the 6th man and
adding one hell of a spark off the bench. Maybe it would be smarter to have it be Veas, seeing that he can come in and play the 3 or the 4 (against smaller
teams) so there is more flexibility.

Nored's potential is just starting to be tapped. He will explode on the scene very soon!

I don't disagree with IHX, Staxawax or HFS; however, I'm seeing this potential value with Nored coming off the bench to spell Mack at PG, especially if
Mack emerges as a top notch distributor (his AST:TO ratio was great last year, much better than Nored's) and Hayward demands 35 MPG next year (which I
could definitely see happening). The change of pace between Mack and Nored could be nice, plus there would be plenty of opportunities to see Nored, Mack and
Hayward on the floor together when we switch to a guard-heavy line-up.

I completely agree Nored's potential is high and I am sure he will only get better the next three years. I think either one would be dynamite off the
bench. If they would be willing to accept the role.

I think the more interesting thing here is how Stigall works into the mix. I can see him getting some pretty good minutes.

Stigall is a complete wild card. I hope he is great and brings another sharp shooter to this team. But it's hard to tell at this point. Not living in
Indiana anymore it's harder to keep up with the high school ball than it used to be, so I surely don't know too much about him. I hear good things, but
I am basically clueless as to what type of impact he may have on the team. I know he got to practice last year with the team. He is probably the one player I
am most interested to see in action.

Lineup changes are fun to talk about...we all know I would have killed to have Pete Campbell starting in '08.
But the fact of the matter is, that it's not happening. Baring injuries, we'll start the same 5 as last year, and we'll do it the entire year.
YEAH!!!

I would tend to agree with you Karen; however, if the distribution of minutes doesn't change from last year, we'll have 150 minutes for our starters
and 50 minutes for our bench guys. With a roster that consists of 12 scholarship guys and 3 walk-ons, that gives 7 minutes per scholarship bench player
(assuming the minutes are evenly distributed, which of course they will not be...). That will lead to at least a couple of guys evaluating their options.

If any of you still have the Davidson game on your DVR or whatever go back and watch Mack's passing in the first half of that game. Mack is a lot like AJ
in the sense that he just makes stuff happen when the ball is in his hands and he's asked to create. Shelvin is great at driving to the hoop and either
finding a cutter or a wide open Howard for an easy basket.
I like Nored a lot and think he should continue to start for his defense and leadership. However, I'd like to see the ball in Mack's hands. Hell, I wouldn't be opposed to having Mack play the point while Nored is on the floor. I also think Nored will be the most improved player on this team next year. |

I'm on the red-shirt Smith campaign right now as well.
Unfortunatley, I'm not sure where Grant fits into the lineup... I'm excited to see Stigall play, but he'll have to prove his worthiness in a very crowded backcourt.
YEAH!!!

Willis. Like I said I like "big," but this team didn't need big this last year to out rebound our opponents... LSU and OSU for starters... and I
believe Xavier close...
Our "little guys" the last few years have been on the boards too, e.g., Mike Green, Shawn and Ron. We do need more bench contribution. |

Yeah I tried to put a comment on the player page but it wouldn't let me. Right now I'm trying to figure out why I can't get the FIBATV demo to
load. Any suggestions on the settings?

If he is going to keep playing that well on an international stage, I sure wish they would get his damn name right.
As far as the earlier discussion, we have been able to rebound and compete with bigger teams in the past few years, but now we have the chance to match them athletically that we probably have never seen at Butler. Just hope we take advantage of it. |
