I have no scores, but I heard we lost to Toledo at home and we won this evening at Bowling Green.

YSU scrimmaged two Division 1 schools, Toledo and Bowling Green, therefore the finals will not be publicized..

Yep, Detroit is going to be another animal this year in the Horizon League. They use their size and athleticism to turn teams over and then beat them up the
floor with the fast break. It'll be interesting to see if that works against Cal. At least with the exhibitions (if you really can), they look pretty
tough.

Yep, I say it every year but you can bet our guys will have their hands full in the Horizon League again this year even though they are the overwhelming
favorite. HL road games are almost always tough. It wasn't easy at home either. Heck, last year at Hinkle we lost to Loyola & Cleveland St.(in HL
tourney) and had very close games against Detroit, Valpo, CSU(in reg season), & Wright St.(in HL tourney).
LET'S GO DAWGS!!!

Every year there seems to be a suprise team, so I'm sure it will be Detroit this year. They have a good coach, and some good talent, there's no reason
why they shouldnt' be decent.
David Woods, a voice of reason:
National publicity is good for Butler's program, of course, but remember this: The Website reporters who cover college basketball are compelled to write about something in the off-season, and Butler is the flavor of the month. Such publicity is also a reminder of how outrageous preseason expectations have become for what is essentially a sophomore/junior team. I'm actually more concerned about Butler's fans than the team. |

I know I'll be watching Motown, I'm interested in seeing just how good your team can be. Hopefully they will be able to win most of their OOC games
this year, that's what the conference really needs.
Most of the state of Indiana is on Eastern, just the north and southwest corners are on CST. "They say not to mix business with pleasure. If that's true, then tell me how a putt-putt golf course business works." |

#13 Cal game will be extremely difficult for Detroit. This is one of those Horizon League pre-conference games I'll cringe about before seeing the final
score. A Detroit loss by less than 15 pts is a victory for them in my eyes. It means they were competitive with a Top 15 team. I'll go ahead and predict
85-50.

#13 cal won over Murray State 75-70. Perhaps Detroit will give Cal a good game.

Watched the second half of the UIC - Lewis game on HLN... sure, they barely played their starters, but Lewis looked like they were in control of the game from
the very start. UIC might really be that bad this year.

Lewis 65 - UIC 55
Like I said earlier in the exhibition season, the Horizon loses a couple of these every single year, as opposed to Big 6 conferences who lose maybe 1 per 5 years. It is embarrassing for the conference year in and year out. |

I don't understand why as a coach you would play a team in an exhibition that has been very competitive in d2 the past 10 years with some real athletes. It
just seems like a lose-lose to me.

It's possible the coach is worried more about his athletes being pushed and learning something for the season than he is interested in a 40 point win that
only teaches them that mistakes won't end up biting them in the end.

UIC's first eight games:
Illinois-Springfield, @Central Michigan, Illinois State, @Southern Illinois, @UW-Milwaukee, @UW-Green Bay, @DePaul and Oregon State. If they don't come out of the gate 2-0, I could see them at 1-7 after 8 games. Also, Jimmy Collins could/should also be fired after this season. |
