I would like to take some time to address a few of your statements. Please forgive my poor formatting, as I am simply reading your post and responding to each statement. You say that the "decline" is due to restrictions from "executives". This, in fact, is false. I feel as though I am one of the larger advocates for motions that will lead to less restrictions, including setting up a similar handicapped section to the one in the southeast side of the gym in order to open more student space in the north Dawg Pound. In reference to the "student funds that are given through the SGA", this also is false. We are represented on Student Government, but we have received zero dollars in grants or any other student funds. As jziemer mentioned, most of our sponsorship agreements are trade agreements. Our sponsors make minimal monetary donations. To put it into perspective, their donations were not enough to cover the cost of our new scanning program and software. Regarding the t-shirt price, we paid just under $8/each. We work through Mary Shaw from Your Image Works, who is a loyal Butler alum and who takes on a greater percentage of on-campus t-shirt projects. I am confident in saying that she gives us the best deal possible. Answering your "find your name in the database" statement, we currently have our new scanning system in place and your Dawg Pound membership card is scanned at the gate, very similar to what you would see being done with scanning of tickets at larger venues. Members are then issued a wristband and are free to sit where they want on a first come, first serve basis. I have never reserved a seat, nor have I pressured anyone to leave their current seat, unless we are under some violation of code. I invite you to come to a men's game 90 minutes before tip-off and sit with the exec members that are staffing the student entrance, so you can observe how simple the process really is. Yes, I will be attending the Davidson game this coming Saturday. As for the source of my ticket, SGA President Ryan Waggoner is a good friend of mine and he worked in coordination with Barry Collier, Jamie Comstock, and Levester Johnson to secure tickets. I will be paying $16 for my ticket. I was not actually in attendance in Alaska last year. There were a few students, former Dawg Pound President Loren Snyder being one of them. Regarding the cost of the bus trips, you must understand that these trips cost in the 4-figure range (excluding ticket cost), with a maximum of 50 students paying $10/each for ticket and bus. Hopefully my math serves me correct and is showing me a figure in the negatives. Two years ago when Butler attended the Sweet 16, tickets were priced at $132/each. In order to lessen the burden on students, we offered tickets for $100/each. We bought 100 tickets, losing $32 on each of them. We allocate funds like this in case these situations do arise. I was simply using a few examples to show where the funds go. I can also go on and on about the cards that we purchased for every member at just over $1/card (includes both a wallet size card and 2 key chain cards) or the supplemental shirts we bought for the Wright St. fan bus students or for the food/drink we are supplying for the volunteer event "Bulldogs into the Streets II". There are many behind the scenes things which people fail to see. Also, in reference to the scanning program.... the scanner was purchased as a means of calculating accrued points for each Dawg Pound member rather than for "check-in" purposes.
