My guess is that the refs would have used a stop watch to figure out how much time elapsed early. Butler's ball out of bounds, with that time on the clock,
where Hahn was when the clock expired.

I am very curious about what the solution would have been, as well. My guess is they replay the last 5.9 seconds. Anyone have any ideas on this?

they would have simulated the play on NCAA '09

Per new NCAA guidelines this season, the home team is supposed to keep a digital timer at the table in case of a clock malfunction or to handle a timing error.
Wasn't there so not sure if they had one available. To clarify one comment made elsewhere, the clock is not supposed to start until the ball is
"touched inbounds". I didn't see the game so my comments are based on reading posts here on the Message Board. If Gordo passed the ball laterally
along the baseline to Willie who was also out of bounds, the clock still should not have started. The clock should not have started until Veasley's pass
touched Zach inbounds and not before. This play doesn't happen often but a timer needs to be alert for it in the final seconds of an extremely tight game.

starts when Willie received the pass out of bounds on the baseline.

Yup, that's pretty blatant.
I bet if we run that play again (since we do so often) Brad will surely be letting the officials know ahead of time.
YEAH!!!

Best way to prevent this stuff is to be ahead. By plenty.

Dogs that Scrap - Agree. Game should have never come down to one play at the end of the game. Take care of business for 40 minutes not 5 seconds! |

This is ridiculous. There are so many things wrong with this.
1) It actually appears the clock started, then stopped then started again. 2) It is the OBLIGATION of the clock operator to tell them he started the clock. They may be fans of Milwaukee, but they are officials and need to have integrity. 3) The refs should have known and been watching. 4) What kind of operation is it where there is no view that showed the clock? The clock was on the HLN feed. Would it have mattered, probably not. Before it even came up I said that the clock started early. It was obvious... I could tell from the computer watching. I need to log off for the night... I am getting upset. |

Clearly the team SHOULD have been ahead, regardless, that shot could have made a difference. Dismissing the fact that we missed an opportunity due to a very
valid failure on the part of the officiating crew is ridiculous.
Say we should have been ahead by more doesn't erase the oversight by the officials. When all is said and done...it may have cost us this game. 39m 54.1s of bad play does not excuse poor performance by the professionals, nor does it mean our team deserves to be screwed over.
