So I've been thinking about this the past few days, scouring the boards to see any sense of disdain for a common opponent. Indiana has their Purdue. Duke
has their UNC. Ohio State has their Michigan. DePauw has their Wabash. Who does Butler have? Honestly...I've got nothin'. When I was an undergrad,
I thought it was Detroit. But by the time I graduated, it was UWM. Now CSU and WSU seem to be pretty big games, but I don't really consider it a rivalry.
(They might. But to have everyone hate you doesn't sound like much of a rivalry.) It doesn't even have to be in-conference. How big is the
Florida-Florida State football game every year? Rivalries are important to a program. As fans, uniting around the dislike of a common enemy will be good for
unity. 
For attendance, it means a big turnout for the game.
And...well, it's just fun!
Things that I think are not entirely exclusive, but important, in a rivalry:
- similar type school (this is why I dislike the HoLeague)
- most fans of either school agree that they hate the other, but not necessarily for a valid reason.
- relatively close mileage-wise
- competitive games regardless of records
- play every year
So the question I'm posing is: Who would you like to see be Butler's biggest rival?
Throw some ideas out there, I've got mine already but want to open the floor. Or if you think we've got one already, discuss.
