Head coach Todd Lickliter, and the Iowa Hawkeyes have scored a recruiting coup, and have landed Class of 2010 Mundelein star Ben Brust of the Rising Stars. Brust ranks as one of the top Class of 2010 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois. Brust, a 6'2" shooting guard, is known for his ability to score the basketball from all points of the floor. Brust has put up big offensive numbers througout his high school career, and was among the leading offensive players in the state of Illinois as a junior before an injury cut his season short. Brust told ChicagoHoops.com that he is very excited about the direction of where the Iowa program is headed. Brust said, "Iowa fit me both as a person, and also as a player." Brust went on to say that he is very excited about getting the opportunity to play alongside of Rising Stars alum Cully Payne, and that he just got back from an unofficial visit to the Iowa campus yesterday. Brust becomes the latest member of the 17-U Rising Stars to offer a verbal commitment joining Lenzelle Smith (Ohio State), Alex Rossi (California) and Fred Heldring (William & Mary). Brust selected Iowa over Northwestern, Butler and Stanford. Brust, and his 17-U Rising Stars teammates will be in action July 9-11 at the loaded Chicago Summer Classic in Deerfield, Illinois. |

"excited about the direction"
someone needs to teach him how to use a compass... |

I'll give him props for one thing. I'm glad he went ahead and made the decision so we can get on to other prospects.

If by direction he means heading to the bottom, then I guess I can support him. Whatever, go enjoy getting stomped in the big ten, eleven, whatever, while we
are a top ten team for the next few years.

I believe another Butler recruit Jesse Berry committed to Dayton yesterday.

Is our depth scaring recruits who may be concerned with playing time?

We have plenty of quality depth for another couple of years--I am not too concerned with adding a player or two just to have a body in the "pipe
line". Especially since the next couple of years could give us national notoriety -- and perhaps get a 4 or 5 star who could come in and help immediately
down the road. I have faith in this staff to think through all of the possible scenarios & come up with those special players we need, not just take a
mediocre body. Thoughts?
Offense is fickle, but defense comes every night.

Putting together a TV package is critical...ESPNU games are good...but out-of-state recruits see Big Ten Network as a good opportunity to have many games consistently on TV. |

Mr. Brust,
Have fun watching the NCAA Tournament over the next four years instead of playing in it. |

Seriously, in almost every topic thread it is half full of #!#+$**! nitpicking between of bunch of grown men. Either meet each other in a dark alley and settle your differences or just go away. I actually used to enjoy some of the bickering and thought it was funny, but it has taken over this board. And I will say that Duck on a Rock is not the only bad guy here. Stax you need to look up the the definition of a moderator, if that is what you are supposed to be. I think right now, instigator is a more appropriate title." Nice work cubby.................. |

High School recruits read their potential college suitor's message boards without question; in fact, we had a recruits post his own high school stats on this message board before under an alias! Think before you type. This board is a face for the Butler basketball team and is definitely read and considered by recruits. |

Playing time had to be the deciding factor. The Bulldogs have no shortage of guards for the next few years. You can't fault a guy for wanting to be on the
floor sooner rather than later. If Brust had been a 2011 recruit, Butler might have had a better shot. It is disappointing but I'm pretty sure there are
other very good players Butler can recruit. Move on!
