I'm with the one reader who made a comment about this - I wanted more. A good portion of his story talks about Butler's ranking in its academic
programs in the Midwest. I'm pumped for how Butler puts academics first with its student-athletes, and I certainly wish more institutions would do this. I
also love how they're still having their morning practices. If there's one good way to keep kids out of trouble during the season, it's to make
them get up at 6 AM to come play basketball. I know I'd get to bed on time. I was hoping for a little bit more though, and it was like after he got done
talking about Matt carrying water for his teammates he suddenly realized he had to be somewhere. So he typed up that everyone was participating in practice,
there was dribbling, passing, shooting going on at said practice, a couple people had to leave early... and now so do I - See ya!
Having said that, I really am grateful for DW and Indy Star - Although Butler will never get the press that Purdue and IU do, they were really the first major media outlet that I was able to get my Bulldog news from. Hopefully this relationship will continue for many seasons and off-seasons to come! "They say not to mix business with pleasure. "I attended today's morning practice and saw point guard Ronald Nored playing without a brace. I also saw him make a high percentage of his 3-point
attempts"
and that should put a rest to any of the "Mack starting at PG" notions.
YEAH!!!

There's plenty that can shake out so this is all pure speculation. There will be plenty of times when both guys handle the ball I would suspect. And if we
need zone busters, you hope someone steps up on the perimeter to sink some threes. But I don't expect Nored to come in this year and be banging 40% or so
from outside. I would love this to happen, but I don't expect it.

I think there are plenty of positives to look at on either side of the argument. The more production we can get outside of Shelvin, Gordon, and Matt, is just icing on the cake, if guys like Nored could step it up offensively we could be playing deep into tourney season. Our defense is always going to keep us in it. But the more people who can hit those big shots could propel us to the big wins we need for a top 3 seed come March! |

I think the overall goal for this team, outside of the politically correct goals (one game at a time, win conference etc) should be to make a run at a top 3
seed. Look, there are going to be a lot of very good teams this year, and we are lucky to be mentioned in the same breath as many of them (it shows how far we
have come and the level of respect we now have as a program) but a top 3 see is attainable if we can have some success in the preconference. This team needs to
fire away on all cylindars from the jump to erase any doubt and stigma the committee has about top 3 seeds and non big 6 small schools. A top 3 seed and the
final four is not out of reach by any stretch.

Lets just jump on Davidson the way we did Tulane in the 06-07 season and keep it rolling.

I agree Dawgsrock, should have probably said that but I am going to assume a year older, wiser and a year of conference play under the ol' belt, that
won't happen. Start off with a bang and treat every game the same and fire away. This non con is ambitious, and can be a real asset come selection time.
Saying that, regardless of what Horizon reporters/homers/observers think...the rest of the world thinks is is a joke conference. That is not fair with what
Butler has done in the past and what Cleveland State did last year, but it is the case. I think anything other than 17-1 and 18-0 hurts the chances to get a
high seed. It's amazing one loss here or there can take an otherwise great season and drop us to a 7-9 seed with a bad matchup. But, unfortunately
that's the devil we know.

Ron will already be getting plenty of minutes and won't be pulled if he misses a couple. He had a reputation as a good shooter in HS and with the way Gordon and Shelvin can take it to the hole, he should be ready for the kickout and knock it down! |

Hopefully, Ron can improve his shooting and with the penetrating prowess of Mack and Hayward, like you stated, Stax, he and the New Castle twins as well as SVZ
and others should see plenty of open opportunities to hit threes as well as keep the defenses honest
I know BS stated that no one even mentions the Final Four but somehow that soft whisper coming from the upper echelons of Hinkle keeps repeating itself in the deep recesses of my brain. What is it they're saying? 'Seven Miles South! Seven Miles South!"

One time Howard talked to me, and I peed a little. Am I ashamed of this? No chance. Nice article, and perhaps things like this will cue the marketing department to push for even more exposure as the season roles on (knowing that there is great potential in rankings, revenue, ect.). |

Ron does need to be ready for the kick and shoot, and hopefully he can knock some down, especially early in the season so he is viewed as a threat. I think
offensively we all would agree as I am sure the opponents do that PG is the one position on the floor you can really sag off of to focus on the big three. Just
from scouting last year's games. If he can become a threat from the outside it will do tons to make this offense flow.
