Ridiculous to have #1 and #3 play in the first round. At least seed the top two teams in each sectional and put them on opposite sides of the bracket.

The game was a sellout, and was on "over-the-air" TV. It was a classic, and everybody that could see it did. Shouldn't matter if they play 2 games later. Would North Central feel so much better with the title "Sectional Runnerup"?

I know that there is a bunch of "we've always done it this way" built into the high school tournament (blind draw, two game/one day regionals, etc.), but that doesn't mean you can't make it better. The Ohio model (which does have some drawbacks, such as a bit more travel and sometimes a lack of rivalries) would have allowed NC and HSE to put themselves in totally different sectionals if they chose, meaning they wouldn't have had to meet until the regional finals, where they would have probably played in a bigger gym, with more focus being able to be drawn to it since there are only x number of teams left instead of every team in the state.

Indiana's system is regional based, which builds rivalries and regional pride. It was great that our sectional included 5 of the 6 county schools because winning the sectional meant that you had bragging rights over the other players with whom you played summer ball and would run into for the next year. While class basketball has gutted much of the tradition of Indiana basketball, going to a seeding system would only finish the job.
